the nomination. Ohio has thrown away
the opportunity either to elect you or to
make Seward president simply in con-
sequence of the petty [trinters?] who have
through trickery been sent here to repre
sent her Numy [honor? No] an unnecessary you will
learn them soon enough , Suffice it to
say your friends have been tricked
and your interest trifled and the
honest wishes of the people of Ohio
trifled with. I have stated this as my
view of their duty, as my connections to a few
of your reliable friends both in our own
delegation and the Ky delegation but without
avail[.] There could be no unanimity amongst
them and the nomination has been made
really without the aid of Ohio. The[y] have
exercised no commanding influence in the
Convention simply because the[y] did not come
here as the true, honest, and united exponent
of the wishes of the people as[?] declared upon
every occasion for the past 4 years[.] as far as
the result is concerned, she might as well have
staid at home and you have [?] been saved
the contemptible farce of a complimentary
vote by a delegation looking one way and
[roning?] another - Their Conduct will
