Robert Hosea to Salmon P. Chase, May, 16, 1860
energetic and united delegation from our
own state - I say all the delegations with
whom I converse. I met the KY and Pa delegations
this evening at their rooms and had
a free conference in company with Mr Ball
and the first objection to you was that
your own delegation was not evidently in
concert in pressing your claims
I think it quite likely that
Cameron or Lincoln may be the nominee unless
Thurlow Weed outgenerals the whole
of the crowd and crunch Seward through.
Yours in haste
R. Hosea
