State who have read it- It was in opposition to uni-

ting Maine and Missouri together-and you will

perceive when the vote is again taken on that questi

think we made them ashamed of it _____I feel as

if I had been working hard again for my old friends

and old principles, and my last exertions are not cal

culated to help me much with my new friends-But I

have the satisfaction of feeling well upon the occasion, &

that is about as much of a reward as any federalist in
